Alexander Stormsong here. And to cut straight to it I figured it was about time to post an update on Soul Fall, a project that has been a total mess since it was first announced and arguably long before. From a founding/admin team that couldn’t get its stuff together to, well that’s actually just about it.
Recap
Soul Fall, quick refresher, was meant to be a continuation of 2 decades of DND/RP/Gaming lore.
It’s been something considered since 2023 give or take, and in ‘discussion’ since 2024. And all I can say is uh… yeah, ball has been dropped. As anyone who has paid attention to the project will no doubt know (if anyone’s still around or cares) it’s been a giant mess. Simply put, the admin/founding team has never been able to agree on anything and we haven’t all been able to work in sync.
This has led to delays, massive changes to the actual plot, obviously this on and off cycle where it’s like “hey we’re going” and then 2 weeks later I end up posting a notice that we’re dead af. I gave a notice 9/21/25 that the group was axed. I said something might be coming last holiday season. And then I made an announcement back in February of this year thinking FINALLY…
The most recent update I gave proper was promising of something new but alas- interference. And then I got busy with Ravenlight and the project went under (again). And as one might imagine since ‘Veil of the Lost’ is attached to the main project, that suffered just the same. At this point it’s like- why bother continuing this train wreck of a storyline?
And to answer that… because of the history, because of the memories, and because of the fun.
The Future?
So what IS the future of Soul Fall?
WELL-
For starters… over the next week or 2 I will begin transitioning into something new. Veil of the Lost is going to get slapped with the non-canon “pilot” logo much as Ravenlight’s now-pilot-novel has.
Could I continue it? Yeah, absolutely. Does it matter when it was setting up a GROUP effort? Mixed response.
The inclusion of some characters, Danielle Mersella and her connection to Virgil Gorgon and Vox Tatara, that was intended to continue a storyline with one Nazghul35 who some might recognize from my streams. I’ve already commented on the stories that idk what the future of her lore or the lore of some other characters will be at this point. And with that in mind, those who have paid attention to the Soul Fall World Anvil will note that a lot of my characters were moved into a “pending” folder and some others from other players have either been moved to retired or deleted from the WA entirely.
At the end of the day- I’m not going to waste my time or my readers’ times on this any longer.
So as I begin to rebrand and spin things into a new direction, I’ll be making changes. Veil of the Lost is going to be marked as concluded. Whatever comes next will be detached. Will I change some of the story setting and background lore? Maybe- we’ll see.
Is this going to be a solo project going forward? Will I have co-writers? Could I start a new DND/RP/Gaming Group with a new team and restart that aspect of things? All remains to be seen.
Really it’s just a lot of maybes atm, which is unfortunate.
What I do know is that I want to continue the lore of my characters and the lore that’s been running for 2 decades at this point. And I would one day like to be able to start a new era, one to continue the fun. Maybe with a new story? Who knows-
Either way… expect more soon as the rebranding gets underway!!
